Eternal Condemnation of the Soul

Let us consider a portion of God’s Word that teaches us what dooms a soul to eternal torment.  A study of God’s Word reveals that the sin of “unbelief” seals a person’s eternal destiny.  Notice some scriptures that reveal this truth: (John 8:24) I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins.  Unless a person believes on Jesus Christ as their sin bearer, they will die in their sins.  (Rom 3:25) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood…God set forth His only begotten Son to pay our sin penalty.  Jesus becomes our personal propitiation (or payment for sin) to God when we believe on Him with all our heart.  (John 3:16) For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The Holy Spirit calls a person’s unbelief to their attention.  (John 16:8-9)  And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: {9} Of sin, because they believe not on Me.  (Acts 2:37) Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart…  Notice that the Holy Spirit is NOT bound to the written word.  It actually and really interacts with the heart of men and women.  The Holy Spirit reproves the world of sin.  What sin does the Holy Spirit call to the world’s attention?  Did the Lord say that the world would be reproved for several things or did He only mention one thing?  According to the Word of God, the Lord mentioned one sin and that sin is unbelief.

Who can make believers out of unbelievers?  The Bible teaches us: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, (Rom 10:10).  According to the Word of God, the heart of an individual is what is used to believe unto righteousness.  The mind is used to believe that God exists but belief from the mind will NOT acquire righteousness for an unbeliever.  Who can use another person’s heart to believe unto righteousness?  Who then can make a believer out of an unbeliever?  Many profess by their actions that they can use a “repeat after me” prayer to make someone else a believer.  Others profess that they can use water to make a believer.  I wonder how these groups expect to deliver others if all they personally possess is the memory of some lifeless act.  Acting does not pay sin’s debt but believing on Jesus Christ with all the heart pays sin’s debt in full.  I am glad we experience the occasion.

(Rom 4:4-5)  Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. {5} But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.  Faith without works is imputed for righteousness when it is placed on Jesus Christ with the whole heart.  There are no works of God given in the Bible for an unbeliever to perform outside of believing on Jesus Christ.  The unbeliever has taken issue with God’s testimony concerning His Son.  (1 John 5:10) He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made Him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of His Son.  Those who teach men to perform acts in order become believers likewise deny the testimony that God has given concerning His Son.  God says that the believer has the witness in himself.  The actors say that this is only emotion running out of control.  I believed with my heart and have found God’s witness to be true.  I encourage all to do the same.

Let’s be careful to rightly divide the Word of Truth.
