Knowledge of the New Birth

No one can harmonize the whole of the Bible and not conclude that a person knows when they are born again because the inner man experiences the new birth when it occurs.

(1 Pet 1:8)  Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

(1 John 3:24)  And he that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him, and He in him. And hereby we know that He abideth in us, by the Spirit which He hath given us.

(Rom 5:5)  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

(Rom 8:16)  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

(1 Cor 2:12)  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

(Gal 4:6)  And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

(Eph 1:13)  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

The scriptures prove that one who has the experience of the new birth feels this experience through the Holy Spirit.  The work of the Holy Spirit is wrought on the soul of the believer.  This causes the truly born again to rejoice with a joy which is unspeakable (1 Pet 1:8).  To be born again is to have the Spirit abiding in you (1 John 3:24) and to have love shed abroad in your heart (Rom 5:5).  The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit to the fact that we are children of God (Rom 8:16).  Because we are children, God sent forth the Spirit into our hearts (Gal 4:6).  We receive the Spirit (1 Cor 2:12) and are sealed by the Spirit (Eph 1:13 ).  The born again know when they are born again because the inner-man experiences the new birth when it occurs.  On the other hand, Now if any man have
not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His, (Rom 8:9).

Let’s be careful to rightly divide the word of truth.
